Sheila Lawson was born in St Andrews, Fife, Scotland and has lived in Edinburgh and London. She now resides in the village of Strathkinness, 3 miles from St Andrews and shares her home with Leo, a very affectionate 10-year old cat.
Sheila’s business career has spanned a variety of industries including golf, hospitality, travel, horticulture, textiles, recruitment, and gallery management. Her love of the arts began with ballet dancing, and trips to ballet performances in Edinburgh (with supper at Henderson’s) were special.
Over 25 years ago, whilst visiting Carsaig on the Isle of Mull, the artist was captivated by watercolour painting and received tuition from Julia Wroughton. In addition to watercolours, Sheila enjoys using oils, acrylics, mixed media, collage, and ink. Subjects include Scottish representational landscapes, seascapes, and abstract painting. Artists who have inspired Sheila to paint include Cezanne, William Gillies and Howard Hodgkin.
Sheila also provides prints and greetings cards of her original works.
Small gifts including necklaces, beady bookmarks, and custom-made napkin rings for special events are also available.
